13 years helping young people of all neurotypes discover their capabilities through patient, creative, and personalized education — specializing in UK education pathways (GCSEs, A-Levels, TSA, Oxbridge) for students in Berlin and internationally
I work extensively with families at Berlin's international schools — including the Berlin British School, Berlin International School, and JFK School — helping students excel in their current studies and supporting smooth transitions to UK sixth forms, colleges, and universities.
My expertise is in the UK education system: GCSEs, A-Levels, IB, TSA, and Oxbridge admissions. With qualifications from Oxford and St Andrews, I understand the demands of UK examinations and university applications. Whether you're an expat family preparing for a move, or a student abroad aiming for UK sixth forms or universities, I can guide you through the system with confidence.
Over 13 years helping young people of all neurotypes discover their capabilities, I've worked with countless students who face challenges with traditional education. I've developed a keen instinct for engaging those who are typically disengaged, and I'm particularly experienced in creating a comfortable space where different ways of thinking and learning are understood and supported.
My approach begins with one simple principle: I meet students where they are in terms of motivation, and we shape our expectations from there. Sessions have a relaxed, authentic atmosphere, with a focus on good rapport and clear expectations of hard work — which we agree on together.
I expect students to work hard, as a mark of respect for themselves and the work — but it is my job to make sessions engaging and rewarding, and it is our job together to navigate the challenge of the course to get the most out of it.
I hold an MA (Oxon) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford, an MFA in Creative Writing from St Andrews, and an English Literature Diploma from Birkbeck. I bring together these formal qualifications with practical experience from specialist autism provisions, private tutoring, and creative practice as a theatre maker and writer.
At Brookways School in Sutton, I led GCSE classes and mentored school refusers through their journey back to education. This experience crystallized my belief that one-to-one tuition can be truly bespoke — taking the time to understand what each student needs and wants from lessons, and harnessing that to help them achieve their highest grades and best experience of learning.
Every student has a unique combination of learning style, interests, and neurotype. I design lessons around these individual factors - whether that means using visual tools for spatial learners, building in movement breaks for ADHD students, connecting maths to a student's passion for music, or structuring creative writing tasks for autistic learners who need clear frameworks.
The goal is always to meet students where they are, using what motivates them to make learning feel natural and achievable rather than forced.
Alongside tutoring, I work as a play therapist and theatre practitioner. This creative background informs my teaching — I understand the power of storytelling, structured improvisation, and creating safe spaces for exploration and risk-taking in learning. This approach is particularly valuable when working with neurodiverse learners, where traditional classroom structures may not always fit.
Berlin British School
J was completing her IB Diploma at the Berlin British School. Through focused weekly sessions, we developed her understanding across multiple subjects and refined her exam technique for the demanding IB assessments.
Result: J achieved 6 points higher than her predicted grades across her IB examinations — a significant achievement that opened doors to her university of choice.
Thank you so much, all of us are proud of her hard work and appreciate your help.
JFK School → Berlin International School
M had fallen behind in maths and was finding the subject increasingly challenging. After moving to Berlin International School, we worked together to identify gaps in understanding and rebuild her confidence in a calm, supportive environment.
Approach: Gentle but purposeful sessions focused on filling knowledge gaps at M's pace, using low-pressure methods that made maths feel accessible again. We avoided rushing, allowing time for concepts to properly settle.
Progress: M's teachers report noticeable improvement in her engagement and achievement in maths. Most importantly, she's regained her confidence and now approaches maths with curiosity rather than anxiety.

Currently supporting two siblings at Berlin British School with their ongoing studies. Working with siblings allows for coordinated academic support that respects each student's individual learning style while maintaining consistency in approach.
British School Beijing → Harrow School
I spent six weeks in Beijing running an intensive residential programme for E, who was applying to UK sixth forms. We covered English, Maths, and Economics, focusing on building independent thinking skills and developing his ability to analyze and evaluate.
Results: Mock exam performance improved significantly across all subjects (English +20%, Maths +10%, Economics +35%). E developed clear paragraph structures and learned to construct balanced arguments. He was accepted to Harrow School.
You have taught him many valuable skills, and you are truly the best teacher I have ever met.
Predicted Grade 2 → Achieved Grade 4
B's main challenges were retention and focus. We met both online and during residential sessions, developing strategies that worked with his ADHD and dyslexia rather than against them. Lessons layered new content while regularly revisiting previous topics.
B achieved a Grade 4 in Maths and went on to study at his chosen college.
Sean is kind, thoughtful and holds a firm bar on what is expected/needed from his students. For B this worked super well, fostering a relationship of mutual respect.
King's Interhigh Online School
Z had strong analytical skills but struggled with creative writing. When we started, she couldn't write more than a sentence in imaginative contexts. Over 1.5 years, we built clear structures and strategies specifically designed around her learning style.
Z achieved Grade 9s in both English Language and Literature and went on to study English at A-Level.
Z found him inspiring and fun to work with. Sean is thoughtful and diligent, he understood the challenges she is facing with creative writing and constructed the lessons to suit her needs.
Brookways School
J had been out of school for three years due to social anxiety. We met online every morning for eight weeks, building rapport through special projects and discussing books. After one term, J returned to regular classroom attendance and began thriving academically and socially.
I work with leading education agencies across the UK, Europe, and Asia to connect with families seeking exceptional tutoring support.
